Description

'76 Chevy Monza, made by Hot Wheels.
This one was sold as part of their The Hot Ones 2012 series.

I didn't knew the Monza was a successful race car back in its days. I only found out the informations after I bought this miniature, which looks awesome!

This miniature ressembles the Chevy Monza that raced in the IMSA GT series in the mid 70's.

I had a buddy who built one back in the day. Put a chevy 350 in it with a 4 speed. He cut floor and fire wall out and the rear wheel wells. It had a roll cage muncie speed shifter and a tach bolted on the hood. He sheet metaled and welled new floor, fire wall and tubs in it. He was a sheet metal dude had like his own brake and wheel and stuff. Put some carpet in it to cove the tranny shield cause it got so hot in the little thing. Big fat mags on the back on race master rims that were deep wells turned around backwards so the tires would fit under the car! Man it was fast! I think it did like high 8's in the 1/4 mile! had to be careful not to flip it!!

That reminds me. Back then you had to use a chute in pro stock. I guess they don't need them any more thanks to better brakes? No drums any more. lol.

That Monza was Bad Ass. Had a freaking 8 track in it dude, that was like stone age. LOL! Man I am getting old! I freaking love cars. Peace.
