OPALA by broettonavarro OPALA by broettonavarro
A late-80's, early-90's Chevrolet Opala.
An Opala Comodoro to be more specific.

Related to the Opel Rekord C, the Opala was the first car Chevrolet build in Brazil. Launched in 1968, coupe and station wagon versions were available during the lifetime of this car.
Considered a muscle car by many, the Opala has gathered a legion of fans over the years. The brazilian government (presidents included) used black Opalas during the 70's and 80's.
The Chevy Opala was retired after many facelifts, in 1992... more than 20 years after its debut.
A true blockbuster.

And mind you, these are highly collectible. Opalas in good conditions are worth quite a lot of cash.

Not only "Opala" is the name of a precious gem (opal, that is), but also happens to be the combination of the words "Opel" and "Impala" ;)

Great photo!
Very nice car, I can see resemblance to older Opels. What engines are available?

Thanks a lot, mate!
I have a book about the Opala... I'm looking here, it says the Opala was available as:
- 4-cylinder 2.5
- 6-cylinder 3.8
- 6-cylinder 4.1
The 2.5 produced aprox. 98hp, and the 4.1 aprox. 150hp.

The 4100 being the most famous, as it equipped the sporty version, the Opala SS... which is made by HotWheels, but they only call it "Chevrolet SS" for unknown reason

So, even though it is regarded as a muscle car in here, it never had a V8 engine.
But it's RWD =D

Huge engines for Polish standards!
Different countries have different muscle cars... :)

For brazilian standards of the past 20 years, the most common engines range from 1.0 to 2.0... and in-line 4-cylinder, FWD

...we don't have much options when it comes to details like these anymore :/
